Yet Another Wii/DS Download Update
Posted on January 08th, 2008 by Mark in Wii Hardware
Since practically the first day the Wii was announced there have been repeated rumors of the Nintendo Wii featuring some sort of downloadable content for the hand held DS. For awhile, this was accepted fact. Then it was accepted lies. Now … well, every month or so we get a new theory. Today’s update seems to carry quite alot of weight, as it comes from the mouth of Reggie Fils-Aimie in a discussion with the New York Times.
You can read the full article right here, but for the lazy among us, allow me to summarize. Fils-Aimie described the flexibility and utility of the DS in Japan, basically saying over there they get a lot more cool stuff than we do. Surprise, right? They use it for all manner of things, up to and including informational tours of museums and the like. They also, as we all know, already have downloadable DS content available from the Wii via wireless network connection. After taunting all his American fans with that information, he went on to say Nintendo planned to introduce some of those features into the American market to “aggressively drive DS business.”
How many of you out there would take advantage of such functionality from your DS?
