Wii - still injuring people

Wii InjuryOne local Doctor in Cincinnati has said playing the Wii can be downright dangerous and not from those Wiimote injuries we all heard about when it launched. This Doctor claims he sees a lot of people in his clinic with muscle soreness and other injuries, gained from Wii use.

You can tell the people that wrote this insightful little piece over at WLWT know all about gaming since they include this within the text “Bruder, an emergency department doctor, said injuries are adding up as more people get the game.” The word “game” meaning Wii, which, isn’t a game, it’s a games console that you play games on. Nitpicky, maybe, but none the less annoying.

Apparently the popularity of the console and its games don’t help, people play and don’t take a break. “Young children through middle-age people (are) being over exuberant, coming in after hours and hours with their arms, shoulders and joints aching,” Bruder said.

There’s not much positivity in the piece, hardly surprising I suppose as this is generally what happens when the mainstream press latch onto a story about video games and it’s written up by someone who wouldn’t know gaming from their elbow-their tennis elbow I’m assuming.
