Wii Freeloader – Region Free your Wii
Posted on February 29th, 2008 by Angela in Wii Modifications
Oh please, oh please, oh please let this be true, not necessarily for me because I have a Pal and NTSC Wii anyway, though it would be cool to not have to swap them over whenever I want to play a US game.
The Wii version of Freeloader essentially acts as a kind of boot disk so that after you load it into your Wii you can then load any region game and it will work. I had a GameCube Freeloader (I also had a UK and US GameCube) and it made things far simpler than having to unplug one GameCube for another because you’d imported a game. Assuming the Wii version of Freeloader works as well as the GameCube version, this will be pretty sweet. One thing though it’s totally unofficial and I’m sure I don’t have to point out that the GameCube didn’t get Wii updates, that could perhaps render this useless in the blink of an eye.
You can get the Wii FreeLoader for 10 British pounds, that’s around $20 USD from Code Junkies. It will also make your Wii capable of playing any region GameCube games and because it isn’t a chip there’s no mods required so your warranty remains intact.
