Wii Controller Not Being Utilized?
Posted on December 07th, 2007 by Angela in Wii Gaming
I was looking through the 2008 release least for the Wii and something struck me, a lot of ports and titles that by name wouldn’t seem to tie in with the Wiimote in any overall way, other than using it as a fairly standard controller (analogue stick and buttons). We know from the releases thus far that really not many of the titles actually use the Wiimote to its fullest capacity, with only a sprinkling of games that you might say could only ever be done on the Wii and no other platform. A lot of titles seem to just have the control mechanism tweaked to incorporate some Wiimote functionality, but you wouldn’t say they were made with the Wii in mind.
I’m pretty disappointed with the list that hit my inbox this morning, though I do understand this isn’t a full list for the year, just more of a highlight of the main titles we can expect. Still it leaves a lot to be desired overall. It would be great to see the Wii getting more exclusive titles that truly make the most of the control mechanic on offer, as opposed to just ‘let’s make this a racing game where you tilt the controller as opposed to press an analogue stick’.
What are the games you’re looking forward to in 2008 and how many of them would you consider to be Wii exclusive in the sense of the overall control machanism used?
