Wii at the Oscars

So Nintendo is officially everywhere. Completing the cycle from undisputed King (NES) to unfortunate afterthought (Cube) back to King, Nintendo’s little giant put in an appearance at the place to be last night — the Oscars. Yes, everybody who is anybody was there, and the Wii apparently is in. The generally amusing Jon Stewart, host of the bash, threw down on some Wii Sports Tennis, against Jamia Simone Nash, who I have never heard of. Which goes to show you just how well plugged-in I am. Apparently she was in the much praised film August Rush, which means she is something of a big deal.
While it is always fun to see Nintendo getting attention, one wonders if anyone in the media realizes there are more games for the Wii than Sports. Although in all fairness, there really aren’t many games you can throw down on for just a scant few moments of comedy on stage. I mean, it isn’t like the system churns out mini-game based games every couple of days or anything.
