Wii and College Football

The best schools get to go the the best bowls, and in theory, the two very best teams make it into the “Championship.” There are roughly 2 billion rules surrounding exactly what these bowls can and can’t do, because making up unnecessary rules is what large institutions do best. One of these rules states that each bowl can’t spend more than 500 bucks per athlete on prize packages they award to the participants in their bowl. Personally, I’m down with this — no problems awarding people for excelling. Depending on the bowl game, the coolness of the awards package varies.

Among the coolest of the year for the bowl prizes is the coveted Nintendo Wii.  Especially considering the bowls happen right around the Christmas season, when not a single Wii is to be found.  Three bowls, however, snagged enough of Nintendo’s prize product to award them to participating athletes.  San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl and the BCS Championship Bowl will all be awarding the Wii, with different packages of extras. The former two include extra controllers and the latter comes with several games.

See, kids. And you thought it was tricky to find a Wii for Christmas. All you needed to do was get yourself onto a championship caliber NCAA football team!
