What to do With Your Wii Balance Board

Right, so you’re going to buy Wii Fit, aren’t you? I mean, the sheer novelty factor of the game, coupled with the incredible fun of its predecessors Wii Sports and Wii Play, pretty much demands that any Wii owner invests in the get-in-shape “game.” And we all know about that crazy balance board gizmo that comes with your purchase, which you will use to … well … get fit.  Or whatever. But what happens to the balance board when you get bored of Wii Fit? Let’s face it, there aren’t a whole lot of games ready to rock out full on balance board action, outside of the potential of skateboards and snowboards.

When asked about it recently, Nintendo gurus Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoru Iwata conceded that companies probably were not going to be interested in designing full priced video games specifically for the use of one weird peripheral. Donkey Kongas, anyone? However, they aren’t convinced your Board has to collect dust after you ditch Fit. Iwata says he’d love to see some cheaper, simpler games designed for the Virtual Console to take advantage of the unique controller. Pay a few bucks, download a game, and hop on your board. Sounds fair enough, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
