Steel Penny Games now WiiWare developers

Steel Penny Games is now one of the WiiWare developers. The Texas based company headed up by Naughty Dogs Jason Hughes and Andrew Gilmour can now try and get that foothold in what Hughes refers to as “the modern equivalent of the garage method for an independent to gain a foothold in the industry - a unique opportunity WiiWare presents that we appreciate.”
There’s still no word on when the WiiWare rain will begin to fall, though one developer did suggest we may see the trickle begin as early as March. WiiWare (Wii Software in Europe) is sort of like the Xbox Live Arcade / PlayStation Network of the Nintendo Wii. Developers accepted into the WiiWare realm will be able to make original IP for the service which will be disseminated via digital distribution.
As a PS3 owner and recent player of Naughty Dogs ‘Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune’, I can only surmise Steel Penny Games title scheduled for WiiWare release this year will be awesome if their attention to detail in that particular title is anything to go by. Steel Penny state their original IP will blend “a challenging puzzle game with dramatic fantasy environments and appealing characters for an exceptionally satisfying experience.”
