Firstly let me raise my hand vulcan salute style and say, yes I am a bit of a Star trek geek. Needless to say the thought of playing a really cool Star Trek game on the Wii would really make my day. I haven’t had a sneak peek at Star Trek Conquest–given Bethesda Softworks only announced today that its shipping to US stores, but I’d like to. The game will feature a blend of strategy and intense action set in the Star Trek: The Next Generation era and will be available on store shelves throughout North America as early as tomorrow.

Here’s the thing, has anyone ever actually played a Star trek videogame they’ve enjoyed? I recall a title vaguely on the PC called The Harbingers or something similar and that wasn’t half bad, but these console titles are usually fairly dire. I’ll hold judgement until one of our readers enlightens me, or I get my hands on the game myself, afterall it might be fun to point the WiiMote and say ‘Engage’.

On a side note, the press release for this title states “Conquest has been rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and will retail for an estimated MSRP of $29.99 on the Wii and $14.99 on the PlayStation 2″, that is one hell of a price difference!
