Spore Officially Coming to the Wii

It is no secret that Will Wright of Electronic Arts is a big fan of the Wii. He has embraced it as a true “next gen” console, and has spoken very positively about his ideas for the potential of the system. And Mr. Wright*has put his money where his mouth is, officially confirming his major title Spore will be released for the Nintendo Wii along with those other two systems. In fact, the delay in release for Spore was largely due to the company’s desire to release the game across all three systems at the same time — Wright called the process of translating the game to Wii a “significant re-thinking” for the company due to the notable difference in controls between the Wii and its less innovative competition.

Wright is also claiming the life sim game will be supported by Nintendo’s online community. We can certainly hope this is the case, but as Jonathan over at GT sagely points out, Nintendo Co doesn’t have a particularly stellar track record in the online gaming department (I’m looking right at you Metroid).

*Not to be confused with Mr. Right, ladies.
