Some More News About that Wii Star Wars Game

Let’s be honest here, how many of us, when we first saw/heard about the motion sensitive Nintendo Wii controller, thought holy crap, I can’t wait to have a lightsaber! Hands in the air, please. Yeah, that’s what I thought — everybody. You can sure believe it was practically the first thought I had. And the thought hasn’t left my brain for even a second since. Every time I think about what games I want for the Wii, I think about Star Wars.

Many of us hope the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for the Nintendo Wii will satisfy that desire. However, nothing has been confirmed yet about the nature of control for the lightsaber action in the game, except that it won’t be precisely 1 to 1 with your movements. Disappointing, sure, but I’d still be happy with a close approximation. And while we still don’t have a final word, Game Informer has provided us with a few more details about the upcoming game.

They say swinging the wiimote will control the lightsaber in some capacity, at least. Additionally, motion sensitivity will be used for activating force powers — for example, shoving the nunchuck forward while holding a trigger button will accomplish a force push. This isn’t a full reveal, by any means, but it certainly is a happy step in the right direction and sounds very promising to me.
