Smash Brothers Delayed Til March

Super Smash Bros Brawl BetaWell friends, I wish I could say I am surprised by this news. But I’m not; and neither, I suspect, are you. If you’ve had any experiences with Nintendo as a software producer before, you surely know they just love to announce delays for their most anticipated titles. And Super Smash Brothers Brawl is unfortunately no exception. Brawl, which has been one of the most highly anticipated titles since the Wii has been released, is now officially pushed back to a March 9th launch here in the States. If you live in Japan, it is pushed back until January 31st.  You PAL people, who the heck knows. They still like to pretend you don’t exist.

As always, this is a bit disappointing. However, I’ve learned from years of experience not to begrudge Nintendo when they ask me for extra time. Sure, I wish I had their games quicker — but they almost always produce quality titles, and if they need a few extra weeks or months to make it perfect, they can have it, as far as I am concerned. I’ll take a longer wait and a truly quality game rather than a shorter wait and a product of inferior quality.

And in the meantime, rumors are suggesting that the Virtual Console may be pushing out a release of Smash Brothers 64. If this turns out to be the case, you can satisfy your Smash jonesing with some retro action until March. Or, you know, pop your copy of the Gamecube title into your Wii.
