Happy Valentines Day Wii Gamers!

Here we are with the Wii Centre – Valentine’s Day Wii special. If you’re lucky enough to have a partner that’s a gamer, you’re sorted for Valentine’s Day, especially if it’s raining and miserable outside or you just can’t be bothered with those Valentine’s Day crowds. If on the other hand your partner (be they male or female) isn’t into gaming, you could make Valentine’s Day be about finding some common ground with regards to your gaming obsession.
Here are a few Wii titles you could try and woo your non gaming partner with come Valentine’s Day. Remember though, if they show utter disinterest, best not to push it. You can always use the “honey I want to spend more time with you, you know I love gaming, so can’t you just give it a try with me” *bat eyelids*
Gaming suggestions after the jump….
Dust off Wii Sports, especially if your love is new and hasn’t seen this little cracker of fun before. Even for the most non gamer on the planet, Wii Sports is accessible. Be positive and enthusiastic and the most important Valentine’s Day gaming rule here is “let the Wookiee win”, don’t thrash your non gaming partner every time, let them win once in awhile, you want them to enjoy the game, not be put off forever. It should be pointed out that this rule carries over into whatever game you manage to get your non gaming partner to play with you.
A couple of insanely fun titles you could give a try are Wario Ware Smooth Moves and Raving Rabbids. Both of these are simple to play and can have those participating in stitches and you know what happens when people laugh don’t you? Of course you do, endorphins are released in the brain, this makes the person feel more relaxed, happier and these are the same endorphins released during sex, which, if you are a consenting adult on Valentine’s Day, is a good thing.
If your sweety just wants to watch you play a game remember these Valentine’s Day gaming rules: Don’t play for too long!! Make sure you are positive about them watching you, let them give you help, hints etc. This is most handy in a game such as Zelda Twilight Princess or other titles such as Zack & Wiki where puzzle elements may be involved. Ask them their opinion “where do you think I go now” .. yes, even if you know where to go - involve them, it’s not a massive leap, this rule goes for everyone, regardless of hobby, day, gender or anything else.
Stereotypical….
Alright, let’s face it, as a female gamer it irritates the hell out of me that people assume things about my gaming habits–usually that I don’t like shooters and only play simming and puzzles. The funny thing is, for the non female gamer, this may be true (though I’m not suggesting they’re ALL the same!). For this reason here are a couple of stereotypical titles to get your loved one for Valentine’s Day….
For the NON gaming girl
MySims
You can’t go wrong with MySims if your girl isn’t a gamer and she loves things that are cute and .. ahem… ‘girly’. Buy her MySims and tell her she might actually like it if she gives it a try.
For the Gamer Girl
Actually MySims is fun, regardless, but you might want to get Super Mario Galaxy, or Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition for the gaming girl… there’s nothing quite like mowing down zombies. Oh and check out the gaming guy response too.. it works also.
For the NON gaming boy
Tough one, if he isn’t a gamer, given he’s afforded all of the societal ‘rights’ to be one (unlike the female of the species), this could be hard! I’d go with Links Crossbow Training and the Wii Zapper if he likes gunplay and if he’s more of an anti gun lobbyist.. how about some Super Mario Galaxy.
For the gaming boy
Pretty much anything. For a girl or guy to buy their gaming boyfriend a videogame, it’s like some romantic nirvana, particularly if it hasn’t happened before. One thing though, don’t always listen to the advice of the gamestore clerk who can see that glazed look in your eye and may try and lead you into buying some tat they’re trying to get rid of. Go for the obvious big sellers, but remember to check it isn’t already on his shelf. Oh and this can go for the gamer girl too.. since they’re both (despite what marketing may have you believe) one and the same.
Whatever you do this Valentine’s Day, enjoy it and have fun… oh and don’t forget the romance!! If you happen to be single.. don’t fret… look at the bright side, it means uninterrupted Wii gaming for you. ;p
