It seems one of the first spin off titles that will utilise the Wii Fit balance board has hit, it being Family Ski, by Namco-Bandai. The game, which is a cutesy family skiing title (gee never have guessed that given the name) was previously thought to use the WiiMote and Nunchuk configuration we’re all familiar with. Now there’s rumors suggesting the Wii Fit board will be used.

So, with that in mind, it sounds like you’ll be able to stand and excercise those legs as you take on the alpine environments. Pretty cool idea and it opens up the world to skateboarding, surfing and various other stand and play sports. Family Ski for Wii launches in Japan in Jan 08. There’s no word of a US / Rest of the World release as of yet. You can check out the official site HERE, but it’s all in Asian, cute imagery though. Shouldn’t they have called the Wii version ‘Family Skii’?
