Do You Remember Your First Nintendo Experience?

Posted on March 04th, 2008 by Mark in Nintendo Co

I certainly do. It is a story I’ve told various times over the years, and it always helps establish my geek cred. I was relating the experience to someone this past weekend, and thought to myself “hey Mark, you write for a Nintendo blog these days. Why don’t you share this with Wii Centre’s audience?” [...]

Gamestop Going Wii Crazy?

Posted on January 25th, 2008 by Mark in Nintendo Co

For the last several years, anyone entering a video game store would have to pull out a magnifying glass to find the Nintendo console video game section. Okay, so maybe that is a bit of an overstatement, but you know what I mean. The GBA and the DS always represent, of course, but the section [...]

So if I told you the Nintendo Wii has sold 5 million units in Japan really quickly, you wouldn’t be surprised, right? After all, the thing is selling as quickly as they can manufacture it. And I bet you wouldn’t be surprised either if I told you it managed to sell 5 million units quicker [...]

Yay Nintendo! For the second year in a row, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has honored Nintendo with an Emmy Award for excellence in engineering creativity. Hardware Shortage Picking Mario’s Pocket?

Posted on December 18th, 2007 by Mark in Nintendo Co

Seriously, you have to love spin. Because without spin, we couldn’t have headlines such as “Wii Shortages to Cost Nintendo 1.3 Billion this Christmas.” Really, Mr. Market Analyst? Really? Raving success and insane market demand is costing Nintendo money? You know, the last time I looked, Nintendo was like Scrooge McDuck, swimming [...]

Wii Makes Gamecube Look Silly

Posted on December 13th, 2007 by Mark in Nintendo Co

Clearly, the Nintendo Wii is mopping the floor with … well, just about everything, in terms of hardware sales. Which is fantastic for Nintendo, because their last several efforts had left many industry people and fans doubting the company’s abilities to compete in the modern console world (handhelds are, of course, a completely different [...]

No More Tempting Wii Ads For the UK

Posted on December 12th, 2007 by Angela in Nintendo Co

Nintendo have eventually decided to stop teasing all those poor people out hunting down Wii’s this Christmas. They’ve decided to stop advertising the Wii in the UK in the run up to Christmas because they simply can’t meet the demand for it.
Over the last few months, the Wii fervor has continued to escalate and most [...]

Greenpeace Says Nintendo Hates the Environment

Posted on November 29th, 2007 by Mark in Nintendo Co

We all know the whole environmentally friendly issue is a popular debate these days (how big is your carbon footprint?) for many and varied reasons. I’m not here to get anywhere near that debate — this is a video game blog, and we embrace gamers of all viewpoints — beyond saying I like this earth [...]

Bafta Loves Wii Sports

Posted on October 24th, 2007 by Mark in Nintendo Co

Obviously, the Wii’s launch package title Wii Sports is a tremendously popular and critically acclaimed video game. Sure, it is mostly a teaser/sampler of the Wii’s actual potential, but it sure is fantastic none the less. Everyone from toddlers to the nursing home community love to pick up a Wii remote and throw down on [...]
